You Can Start Saving Money TODAY

When my husband and I decided to straighten out our finances, things looked pretty bleak. We had really gotten ourselves into a bad financial situation. What I learned was that you can’t fix everything at once, but you can fix something. You will be surprised at how much you can save in just one day.

Go look in your kitchen cabinets, and then check out the freezer. Do you have enough food to make meals for the next week? If you do, skip the grocery store this week. You’ll save the amount of your typical grocery shopping trip and can use the money for something else. I was amazed the first time I did this. I had to stop by the store to pick up milk and a few fruits and vegetables, but that was all. Look through your cookbooks to find recipes that use the ingredients you have. There are countless recipes online, too. All Recipes has any recipe you will ever need. I still use this strategy every once in awhile just to make sure I don’t let any food go to waste.

Are you good at saving money?

Next, look at your supply of items such as laundry detergent, cleaning items, and toiletries. Do you have enough of these for the next week or two, or maybe even three? If you do, promise yourself that you won’t buy these items even if they go on sale. It makes more sense to save your money now instead of spending money on things you don’t really need.

My suggestion for you:

Start with simple ways you can save money. Take a look at what you already have in your cabinets, pantry, and closets before you spend another dollar.
