Credit Cards » Saving Money One Week at a Time
When you’re trying to get your finances in order, there will be some days that you’ll be overwhelmed with everything you want to do. My husband and I came up with so many ideas of how we could change our money management techniques that we didn’t know where to start. We found the best thing for us to do was to take it one week at a time.
My husband and I started by writing down all the ideas we had for saving money. If you decide to make a list of ideas, remember that you’ll never really be done with your list. Once you get started with your new financial life, you’ll think of more ideas to add later on, so make sure to keep your list handy.
Decide which money saving ideas you want to implement first. You can start with anything you want, just make sure you start with something. To get your plan underway, choose one or two ideas from your list to incorporate into your life during the first week. If you try to do more than one or two action items the first week, you could end up getting discouraged. You might want to start with the ideas that are the easiest to implement or the ones that will give you the biggest savings, because these will give you the most incentive to continue with your new program. Start out slowly. You can always add more to your weekly list if you complete the ones you assigned to that week.
If you can, divide all the ideas you have on your list according to which week you want to start them. If you can start these action items earlier, that’s great! You’ll probably want to incorporate more items each week as you see the savings increase. Just make sure your action items have a reasonable start date so that you’ll actually start them.
My suggestion for you:
Make a list of all the ways you can save money and decide when you want to start implementing them. Work on these a week at a time to avoid getting overwhelmed or discouraged.
